Civil Construction Project Engineer

THE ROLE
QRS currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our team in our Capital Construction Division. The diverse nature of our business will mean that in this role you will be responsible for managing an interesting range of capital projects including: bridge strengthening, slip and dropout repairs, road widenings/extensions and drainage improvements.  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Capital Manager, your duties will include:

  • Leadership in Health and Safety and Quality Assurance
  • Effectively leading and managing Site Supervisors
  • Effective management of project budgets/costs and productivity
  • Timely delivery of civil construction projects
  • Managing project construction programs to meet agreed deadlines
    and deliverables
  • Working with Engineering consultants to develop design solutions
  • Managing subcontractors to ensure works are delivered on time and to budget
  • Completing monthly claims and invoicing
  • Forward work planning

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 2-4 years’ experience in managing civil projects from start to finish
  • Relevant tertiary qualification an advantage (BE/Diploma/NZCE) or related experience
  • Strong organisational, planning, and programming skills
  • A positive solution focused approach to client/stakeholder project problems
  • The ability to communicate across all levels of the business
  • A professional and collaborative approach to stakeholders
  • Experience with Microsoft Project would be advantageous
  • Able to read and interpret plans
  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite

Civil construction is one of New Zealand’s fastest growing industries. We're always looking for experienced staff including operators, truck drivers, construction workers and site supervisors. Get in touch as we may have something for you! 

Truck driver

We’re currently looking for truck drivers to join the team. Successful applicants will perform various tasks within the operations division related to all aspects of capital and routine works including the transportation of various plant and equipment, and delivery of materials and aggregates for construction of civil projects and roading infrastructure. Successful applicants must have a Full Class 4 licence. A Full Class 5 and Heavy Vehicle (Class 2 and above) and Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers licence is desirable. This position is for a guaranteed 45 hours a week. The successful applicants will also be part of an on-call roster for after-hours emergency response. Operator
