Quality Roading and Services has released its highly anticipated recruitment video campaign ‘Your road to success’ featuring local staff and Wairoa scenes.
The first of the six-part series was released today with project supervisor Joe Winiana playing a leading role.
QRS chief executive Nigel Pollock says the ‘Your road to success’ video campaign is in response to challenges the civil construction industry faces with attracting new recruits.
“What most people probably don’t realise is that civil construction and road maintenance is constantly developing as a niche career option. Those of us already in the industry want to share just how exciting this sector is and the range of work experience available.”
As well as trade certification available across a number of specialties, opportunities also exist in the fields of contract, project, and financial management as well as mechanics, engineering, and more.
Mr Pollock says Wairoa’s isolation can be an added barrier to recruiting skilled personnel – a reason QRS prioritises on-the-job training and education.
“We’ve always maintained that we want QRS to be an employer of choice and these videos help demystify the industry and the opportunities available. We’re hoping they encourage people to come in and talk to us.”
QRS teamed up with local filmmaker Zach Stark from Wylde Creative to film the interviews and capture Wairoa at its stunning best.
Filmed at the Wairoa Bar, Joe Winiana shares his story of how he got into civil construction and the impact QRS has had on his career.
“QRS has given me stepping-stones for where I want to go in life, not only for me, but for my family too.”
Mr Winiana says he agreed to sharing his story because like the other five people profiled, he wanted to promote QRS and be a source of inspiration for anyone wanting to learn more about joining the company.
“As I say in the video, the hardest thing about getting into the industry and having a job for life is walking through the door. Haere mai. We welcome you!”
